Since 2014, our office has been working closely with the Lyme Disease Biobank. The Biobank is essentially a collection of biological samples available to scientists for laboratory research; all collected from people suspected of having Lyme disease.

Recently, the Bay Area Lyme Foundation honored Dr. Dempsey’s research and accomplishments. Here’s a great article by the East Hampton Star

RESEARCH ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

The main purpose is to recruit subjects with early Lyme disease within 48 hours of starting antibiotics. This could either be a rash alone or symptoms that are suspicious for a tickborne disease. This will be determined by your doctor.

A tick bite alone is not a criterion for the study.

Persons with compromised immune systems, such as being treated for cancer or taking immunosuppressants for other diseases, are not eligible for this study.

If the diagnosis and treatment was made by another healthcare provider, then we will not be treating you. You will be volunteering only for the purpose of contributing to a scientific research study. We are always available to speak with your doctor if there are any other questions.
